The whole appeal is a mismatch: a long, heavy passenger vehicle on a track meant for something with four-wheel drive and a short wheelbase. It should not work and mostly it does not, which is the fun.

Progress requires patience. The bus needs a long run at anything steep, cannot be rushed through a turn, and grounds out on obstacles a smaller vehicle would ignore.

Routes are scenic and slow, and finishing one intact feels like an achievement.
