How We Choose Which Games to List

Horse Racing 2D — free online racing game

A distribution feed offers thousands of games. This site lists a few hundred. The difference is a set of rules, and since they affect what you find here, they are worth stating plainly.

The vehicle decides the site

This is a driving catalogue, so the question is what you operate rather than what genre a publisher assigned. A game about a tractor on a farm is a farming game even if its category says racing. A game where you race horses is not a driving game at all — two such pages exist here only because their addresses are years old and breaking them would serve nobody, and both say so on the page.

A brand belongs to whoever owns it

Some well-known series are available legitimately, supplied by the studio that made them. Those we list, under their own names. Imitations of the same series from other studios we do not, however similar the title, and neither do we list games that put someone else’s car model in the title. The rule is simple: a brand name is allowed when the feed provides the game from the brand’s owner.

No weapons, no destruction as the point

Games where shooting, missiles or eliminating other players are the mechanic are excluded regardless of what the vehicle is. Several games were removed from this catalogue for that reason while it was being built, after their descriptions turned out to describe a shooter with wheels. Demolition derby stays — crashing cars into each other is a motorsport with a century of history — but weapons do not.

Enough facts to write an honest page

Every page here is written from what the developer actually says about their game. Where a description is too thin to write from, the game is left out rather than padded with invention. If a page says a game has ten levels, that number came from the developer. If we do not know something, the page does not mention it.

What that leaves

A smaller catalogue than the feed could produce, sorted into sections that describe what you drive. That is the trade, and we think it is the right one: a list you can trust is more useful than a list that is merely long.
